Glencoe

Glencoe

Glencoe itself is a caldera, the remains of an ancient super volcano. It was further shaped by glaciation during the ice age 10,000 years ago, resulting in the dramatic landscape seen today. But the glen is also home to some 200 households who live in Glencoe village and the surrounding area. It’s a bustling community with a primary school, fuel station, shop, church, village hall and thriving, welcoming tourism businesses.

Glen Etive

River Etive - Glen Etive

Glen Etive’s river Etive flows for some 18km from the head of Glen Coe down to the sea at Loch Etive. The river and its glen offer some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland with the drive along the glen is a hugely popular road trip. The river itself offers some exhilarating white water kayaking opportunities. The glen is home to red deer, red squirrels, rare plants and the occasional golden eagle, who share the space with a small number of very lucky permanent residents.
